Finding a Balance

Sports and activity has always been part of my life. My background is in competitive sport and the determination and discipline of competing has stayed with me. The need to lose myself in a run or a cycle and swim in the salty cool blue sea gives me so much more than fitness, it’s the drive I need to live.

I no longer hit the road or the trails competitively and I am less inclined to throw myself into an endurance challenge or marathon, although I do still love a lovely long cycle, these days, I work my fitness into my life.

Through years of training and bodywork I’ve realised that I don’t need to spend hours in the gym. I found that incorporating regular, intense full body workouts, complemented with yoga is effective and comprehensive. The combination leaves me time to live, sea swim with the children, enjoy picnics on the beach and be fit enough to take my road bike out for a hilly cycle, or get in the pool now and again for a couple of kilometres while I wait for the children to finish swim club.

The exercises are challenging and intense but practiced safely. The sessions are strongly focussed on improving muscular endurance and core strength. The exercises are designed to work and complement each other. The balance of exercises reduce the risk of injury and using your own body weight will safely load the muscles and connective tissues incrementally so less chance of overdoing it! We’ll add resistance to the sessions as we progress.

The yoga brings it all together. A fusion of body and mind pushing your boundaries, opening your mind with powerful flows, enhancing strength and tone of the body and providing a balanced and centring practice. The combination of workouts and yoga helps you to move more freely, both physically and mentally.

The body needs to be worked to perform at its best. The beachfitclub workout sessions improve fitness and increase strength and tone. Coupled with my yoga sessions to stretch and lengthen and mindfully ground and centre the body, you’ll be firing at your optimum, and still with time to live life!

The physical and mental benefits of fitness and yoga sessions together provide the most rounded balanced workout for body and mind. They work for me and they will work for you.  Come join me at beachfitclub.com.
